Washington state is likely to pass an income tax as well and that will drive me out even though I am not quite to the threshold yet. Washington state already has an estate tax of 35%, which in addition to the federal tax of 40% means my kids could only get 25%. If I move to Texas, Alaska, Wyoming, Florida, or many other states I don't have this problem. Buying a few plane tickets back and forth is far cheaper.
