None of those things are inherently true. I know it’s happening with a few DCs in the US operated by scrupulous people, but it’s far from the normal.

Datacenters don’t need to use much water outside of normal office needs. They don’t need to increase energy costs. They don’t need to pollute or make any noise in normal conditions.

If they do any of those things in normal operations, it’s due to lacking regulations or the lack of enforcement of existing regulations.

All cars in the EU has to pass periodic inspections. All safety equipment must be in working order to pass.

Therefore, to skirt the law, one would have to be able to reverse the modifications.

Depending on what the car does, the driver might lose a point on their drivers license.

Once you’ve lost three points within three years, you lose your drivers license and will have to retake it. Depending on circumstances you might have a ban for some amount of time(finite or indefinite).

The driver will be more attentive next time, while Tesla is working on improvements.

How does that help everyone else on the streets? Everyone becomes a victim of poorly working automated driving.

The distance is greater = higher latency.

It’s why satellite internet was usually pretty terrible. A simple TCP handshake becomes a multi-second endeavor.

A similar thing as what you propose already exists in the Nordics. You pay with your card as normal, and the receipt gets logged automatically in the app.

Not universally supported unfortunately, but the major stores support it.

Docker.

I'm on Movistar, and I've had trouble pulling Docker images from Docker Hub.

Luckily the plasma torch and bolt cutter didn’t require logging in with Facebook.
