Shout out to American Giant. I have like 15 t-shirts from them, some are ten years old and they look new. Buying good stuff saves money in the long run!

Same here.. i bulk buy tons of AG (American Giant) t-shirts (Premium Slub Crew Tee is awesome) and tons of their jeans too.

Interesting. Hadn't heard of American Giant. I buy AG Jeans and Robert Barakett shirts, and this is my usual outfit. However, AG Jeans (https://www.agjeans.com/) is distinct from American Giant jeans (https://www.american-giant.com/collections/mens-bottoms).

I also struggle to identify quality brands. Generally just shop at Nordstorm.

How can a t-shirt possibly be worth $100? Is that truly better than alternatives?

It’s a cost I’m willing to pay. You’re paying for a fully domestic supply chain. The cotton is grown in the U.S., then cleaned, spun into yarn, made into fabric, dyed, and finally cut and sewn in Los Angeles. Every step happens in the United States, supporting local farming, manufacturing, and labor.

the Robert Barakett shirt? i don't know – often on sale for $50. how are they worth $50? well… there's no logo on them and they fit well.

Not just many foreign militaries. Our military. General Dan Caine by report advised Trump about the negative consequences of this action. MAGA elected a fantasist and narcissist and we will all bear the consequences. I was no fan of Kamala but the appalling limitations of Trump are of a different order and it is a disgrace that our voters by majority elected him.

Wonderful to hear. Her long Covid was heartbreaking (saw the videos). I hope she gets stronger and stronger! Welcome back!

Some of my favorite YouTubers have done guest spots on her channel, which made me love them a little bit more.

Her back catalog is good and you still get paid for people watching your old videos.

Private car ownership is better everyday for suburbs and rural areas but in cities that is not true. Public transit can improve downtown access and reduce congestion. You need some density for transit.

San Francisco put in some bus only lanes and those routes have greatly improved bus speed and ontime performance.

This is not Facebook but I have a young friend who gets her news on Epstein from tiktok. She is convinced they were eating babies. I do worry (a little) that she will go over the conspiracy theories deep end. I told her tiktok news was bad "mental hygiene" but she didn't get it.

> She is convinced they were eating babies

There are indeed allegations of that, so it's not impossible. You can read it yourself here:

https://www.justice.gov/epstein/files/DataSet%209/EFTA001476...

> On the yacht he witnessed babies being dismembered, their intestines removed, and individuals eating the feces from these intestines

this is a member of the general public who filed a report to the FBI. it carries about as much weight as a post on 4chan. you can see the sarcastic response from the FBI officer as well

it is exactly this kind of content that is so pervasive and misleading. the FBI get thousands of reports like this every day saying that george bush is a lizard, antarctica is full of UFOs etc.

Let me use the same sentence structure as above, with another example to highlight the absurdity of it:

"a member of the general public alleged angela merkel was receiving instructions from a russian UFO scientist that had contact with an insect alien spieces in alpha centauri, so its not impossible.

Looking at the rest of the file, I'd rate the credibility of this as 2/10.

But of course I can also see how this could have been taken as fact and spread like wildfire. I wish good luck to the investigators, wow.

Which is exactly the point of the parent. Before Epstein files you would probably rate the rumour at 0/10 credibility.

There is real, but weak, evidence the Epstein gang were eating babies. A lot of past conspiracy theories are suddenly seeming more plausible in light of the Epstein files.

> She is convinced they were eating babies. I do worry (a little) that she will go over the conspiracy theories deep end.

Nothing to worry about; she already has.

My son -- early 30's -- is impacted by how everyone's life seems much better than his. I think it's a real issue for young people.

To be fair SF has had incomprehensible (to normies) billboards since at least the early 90's.

True, but now that's all it has for large swathes of urban landscape. It's tremendously alienating, nothing but startups texting each other. I figure it's only a matter of time before we see billboards with QR codes or interference patterns designed to make self-driving taxis halt in their tracks so that some security/ alignment/ infrastructure startup can get its brand amplified by giving people something to complain about.

I have a friend who was put on a GLP-1 and had an astonishing reduction in arthritis pain.

The prospect of going the last mile to fix the remaining problems reminds me of the old joke:

"The first 90 percent of the code accounts for the first 90 percent of the development time. The remaining 10 percent of the code accounts for the other 90 percent of the development time."

I’ve always heard/repeated it as: “The first 90% is easy, it’s the second 90% that gets you. No one’s willing to talk about the third 90%.”

Yeah, this is why I dont get the argument that LLMs are good for bootstrapping. Especially anything serious.

Sure these things can technically frontload a lot of work at the beginning of a project, but I would argue the design choices made at the beginning of a project set the tone for the entire project, and its best those be made with intention, not stochastic text extruders.

Lets be real these things are shortcut machines that appeal to people's laziness, and as with most shortcuts in life, they come with consequences.

Have fun with your "Think for me SaaS" im not going to let my brain atrophy to the point where my competency is 1:1 correlated to the quantity and quality or tokens I have access too.
