It's not even one one-millionth the control large tech companies have over the lives o f US citizens. There is an entire cast out "lost boys" called the third world the Americans gladly accept. Even after the top leader has been revealed as a sexual predator.
Why would you even bother taking an interview with a company that has you write code by hand? Would you interview for a company that makes you use punched cards? How about stone and chisel?
EBM is actually a surprisingly old field, we just never had the ability to create and store and ingest all the data. There was another problem people discovered during the Renaissance. That the scientific method only worked for concrete measurable problems where every except the exact one you are testing can be controlled, this allows researchers to create falsifiable narratives about their discoveries. Clinical trials are what is known as "soft science" here the naive hopeful solution is that we can pile on more and more data, ignore the unfalsifiable narratives, and ex nihilo happen upon a method that will tell us how to cure a disease.
This isn't so much science as it is outsourcing the "boys club" to a machine.
It's definitely time to turn these loose web features into a real program. I don't understand the desire to clone github as a website. It's demonstrably 10,000x more work to maintain github.com than a "github" command.

Investors and economists have gone crazy, chips and digital infra aren't worth anything, they just extract value from your population and make them dumber. While the western populace is buying debt fueled subscription services on credit, China is buying real estate, maintenance and robots with their trade surplus. Endless VC hype about robots in 2040, except there are here now. Not "here" they are in Chinese factories making cheap vehicles.
This is why I'm not concerned about robotic labor surpluses. A human can generate tons of invaluable data. Right now they aren't capturing that much value, but eventually it will be worth it. That's why the EU is moving fast on data rights. The US will probably wait until ~$100K is being extracted from every man woman and child. In addition to data centers I'd like to see last mile fiber to every home. Whichever company does that will be rolling in money in 2040.
