Nvidia Explains Why a Pixar-Invented Protocol Is the “HTML of the Metaverse” (roadtovr.com)

Notably they don’t say NFT once.

No mention of Zuckerberg's Meta either, which I thought was interesting

Meta isn't popular, not with the general public and not with the VR community.

Meta for one thing wants to be the big destination and the last thing they want is portability with other platforms.

On the other hand NVIDIA wants to sell CPU, GPU and other accelerators and needs to see progress.

I like NVIDIA's vision way better than Meta's for obvious reasons

We will need standard protocols & data formats if we are going to be able to share digital content across AR/VR devices, platforms, and apps. Tabletop games or sharing floating images are good use cases to think about the problem with.

With games, we would need the equivalent of multiplayer across PC, Xbox, PlayStation... we already share images in a way that is already agnostic.
